Liability Insurance
The bare minimum.
If you drive, you are required by law to carry basic auto liability insurance as part of your coverage. Let’s say you’re in an accident, and it’s your fault. Liability covers the damage of the other vehicles, in addition to bodily injuries to others that may occur as a result of the accident.

Comprehensive Insurance
Includes weather damage and theft.
Comprehensive coverage pays to repair or replace your car if it is stolen or damaged in an “incident beyond your control.” Some of these incidents could include damage caused by hail, hitting an animal such as a deer, flood, theft and falling objects.
Collision Insurance
Accident coverage.
Collision insurance covers your car in the event of an accident with another vehicle or object, such as a light pole or tree. Unlike liability coverage, it pays the amount to repair or replace your vehicle (after your deductible) no matter who is at fault. You cannot purchase collision coverage without having comprehensive insurance.
